New groundbreaking research released from commercial property insurer FM Global and the nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition finds fire sprinklers help protect the environment, in addition to preventing property loss and saving lives.
Johnston, R.I. (PRWEB) April 13, 2010 -- Greenhouse gases released by burning buildings can be reduced by 98 percent when automatic fire sprinklers are installed, according to a groundbreaking joint research project released today from FM Global, one of the world's largest commercial property insurers, and the nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC). The research findings also reveal that a single fire in an unsprinklered building can negate the typical environmental benefits of "green" construction.

Copper Prices Soaring Again

After more than doubling in 2009 (the largest single-year commodity cost increase since 1973), copper prices hit a 16 month high at the start 2010 driven by supply concerns, a weakened dollar, and expectations of a strengthening global economy.
